Proposed Marina Village Development Plan
This
site plan gives an overview of the proposed development.
The first thing to recognize is that there is abundant
green space near the water’s edge for recreational use
by everyone. In addition, there will be shops,
restaurant(s) and community amenities to be enjoyed by
all for parties, meetings and group activities. This
open space will be available for community use because
the buildings are being designed to accommodate parking
under the occupied floors of the buildings.
The
state-of-the-art climate-controlled, mechanized
boathouses are pictured at either end of the layout. The
hotel (orange building in the lower right corner of the
plan) will be the tallest building, approximately 220’
which includes parking under the structure. The two
mid-rise residential condominium buildings (pink) are on
either side of the hotel and will accommodate
approximately 80 residential units each with parking
under the building. The small buildings (shown in green)
along the marina basin are ‘Funky Fish Houses’;
individual units ‘for sale’ and / or for nightly
rentals. The remainder of the site is dedicated for use
by residents and visitors, providing open space for
community events, recreation and relaxation at the
water’s edge. |

Proposed
Versus Existing Locations
This graphic shows the proposed buildings (shown in
brown) overlaid on a drawing of the existing buildings
(shown in blue). With the exception of the blue
buildings labeled ‘Exist. Condo’, the other blue
buildings will be replaced with new construction and the
services provided will be relocated to the new
buildings. Most of the area where the proposed hotel and
new condo buildings are shown is presently dedicated to
outside boat storage with no access by the public other
than in connection with marina and boat storage
activities. Under the new plan which calls for building
‘up’, not ‘out’, much of the space that is now an
operating work area will be open and available to the
community. |

Burnt Store Marina
Town Center - Water View
This
rendering shows the development at the water’s edge
which is planned to include restaurant(s), shops,
offices, a ship’s store, marine related businesses, a
gazebo area and open space for the use and enjoyment of
the residents and the public at large. The
pedestrian-friendly walkways, bike trails and cart paths
around the marina basin and throughout the area provide
attractive and enhanced waterfront access.

Burnt Store Marina
Town Center - Birds Eye View
This view shows a more comprehensive perspective of the
Marina Town Center. The building in the middle is the
proposed hotel flanked by the two proposed condominium
buildings which are the economic drivers for the
redevelopment. The rendering shows structured parking
under the occupied floors of the buildings in order to
preserve the area around the Marina for open space and
waterfront amenities for community use. |

Burnt Store Marina Boathouse
This rendering reflects the future in boat storage. The
new boat storage buildings are mechanized eliminating
noise and soot from diesel operated forklifts. The
buildings are environmentally sensitive,
hurricane-resistant, climate-controlled and they provide
better protection for the boats eliminating the
unsightly outdoor dry rack storage now in use. The
demand for these storage facilities will determine the
timing for when they are built; since the Comp Plan
amendment will control development in the Burnt Store
area for decades not just years, it is imperative we
take a long-term view and plan for area boat storage
needs for well into the future. |
